Welcome to Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

Chinkara by Raja Purohit

Located near Supe - a small town in Pune District, Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is supposedly the smallest sanctuary in India with a coverage of just over 5 sq. Km. The topology of the sanctuary is that of an open grassland with dry deciduous scrub forest with patches of grassland interspersed amongst them. The Chinkara or the Indian Gazelle is a very shy animal and gets readily intimidated when approached. But at Mayureshwar, the Chinkaras can be easily observed and their movements enjoyed in the comfort of the vehicle.
